Andrew Gondek Earns Liberty League Weekly Award

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Andrew Gondek of Ballston Spa 12180 has been selected for a weekly award by the Liberty League for an outstanding effort in soccer.

A senior captain and center back who was named the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week, Gondek led a back line that post two shutouts last week. Holding Skidmore and Bard to a combined four shots on goal, he averaged 90.0 minutes played per contest, while also registering a shot at the other end. Starting all 16 games this season, Gondek has a goal for two points offensively, while anchoring a defensive group that has recorded seven clean sheets and allows 3.5 shots on goal per contest. He leads all RPI players in minutes played, averaging 93.8 per game.

RPI (7-6-3; 5-2-1 Liberty League) closes out its regular season with non-league games at Keene State and home to St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday (7pm) and Saturday (1pm), respectively.
