Bethany Hanson Earns Year-End Award in Soccer

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Bethany Hanson of Fullerton 92833 has been chosen to an All-Liberty League Team in soccer.

A senior center back who was selected to the First Team, Hanson started all 18 games for RPI in 2017, collecting two goals and two assists for six points. Averaging 83.9 minutes per match, she had 14 shots (5 on goal) with one game-winning tally, which came on September 2 against Farmingdale State. Appearing in 73 career games for Rensselaer, including 47 as a starter, Hanson totaled three goals and six assists for 12 points. The Sunny Hills High School graduate took 25 shots (7 on goal) with one game-winner. She earns First Team honors for the second time in her career, which also includes All-ECAC North First Team and NSCAA All-Region First Team selections in 2016.

The Engineers went 8-8-2 this season, including a 4-4-1 mark in Liberty League play. RPI qualified for the conference tournament, falling at St. Lawrence in the opening round.
