Christian Kapp Earns All-Liberty League in Football

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Christian Kapp of Westchester (10501) has been selected for a year-end award by the Liberty League for his outstanding effort throughout the football regular season season.

Kapp, an All-Liberty League Second Team selection, is first on the Engineers in scoring with 51 points thanks to eight (of 11) field goals, including a long of 47 yards, and 27 (of 27) point-after-touchdown kicks. The league's Special Teams Performer of the Week once, he has kicked off 44 times with an average of 58.8 yards with nine touchbacks.

Rensselaer, which is coached by Ralph Isernia, plays its final game on Sunday in the Scotty Whitelaw Bowl Championship, a post-season contest in which it will face SUNY Maritime. The game begins at 5pm and is part of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) 2016 Division III Football Bowl Championships at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. It is the first ever meeting between the two programs.

The Engineers concluded the regular season on Saturday with a 21-12 victory over Union College in the Dutchman Shoes Trophy Game, giving them a 5-5 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the Liberty League.
