Christian Kapp Earns Liberty League Weekly Award

2016 Nov 22

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Christian Kapp of Westchester (10501) has been selected for a year-end award by the Liberty League for his outstanding effort in football.

A kicker, Kapp (Iona Prep.) was recognized as the Liberty League Special Teams Performer of the Week after making all five of his point-after-touchdown attempts and going 1 for 1 on field goals, making a 20-yarder to give the Engineers a 3-0 lead six minutes into the first quarter. He also kicked off seven times for 357 yards, a 51.0 yard average. He has now been recognized twice this season and three times in his career.

The Engineers finished the 2016 campaign with a 6-5 record, including wins in each of their last two contests.

Founded in 1824, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is America's oldest technological research university. For nearly two centuries, the Institute has been a driving force behind breakthroughs in engineering and science in virtually every arena-from transportation and infrastructure to business, medicine, outer space, and cyberspace.

As it approaches its bicentennial anniversary, the Institute continues to define The New Polytechnic, a new paradigm for teaching, learning, and research that uses advanced technologies to enable fresh collaborations across disciplines, sectors, and regions, in order to answer the global challenges of our day.
