Christian Kapp Earns Weekly League Award in Football

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Christian Kapp of Westchester 10501 has been chosen for a weekly football award by the Liberty League.

The Special Teams Performer of the Week, Kapp (Amawalk, NY) has now been honored four times this year, including two Weekly Honor Rolls. Against Alfred on Saturday, he was 3 for 3 on field goals and 3 for 3 on point-after-touchdowns to help Rensselaer come back from an early 7-0 deficit. His field goals came from 44 yards in the first quarter, making it 7-3, 30 yards in the second (7-6) and 26 in the fourth (30-7). Kapp also kicked off seven times for 443 yards (66.0 avg) with five touchbacks. An All-Liberty League Second Team selection as a junior, Kapp has made 5 of 7 field goals with 44 yards as his season-long. He is also perfect on PATs, going 23 for 23, and leads the Engineers in scoring with 40 points. On kickoffs, he averages 63.5 yards per attempt (35 for 2221 yards) with 22 touchbacks. He was previously chosen as the Special Teams Performer of the Week on September 11 with Weekly Honor Roll recognition on September 4 and September 18.

Rensselaer, which is 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference, returns to action on Saturday when it plays at league foe St. Lawrence University (1pm).
