Christian Kapp Earns Year-End Team Award in Football

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Christian Kapp of Westchester 10501 has earned a year-end team award in football.

The team's Special Teams Player of the Year, Kapp (Iona Prep.) made 9 of 12 field goal attempts, including a long of 47 yards. He was also successful on all 32 point-after attempts and led the team with 69 points. He averaged 62.1 yards per kickoff (59 att. for 3664 yards) with 34 touchbacks before going on to earn the Special Teams Most Valuable Player award of the National Bowl Game. He had field goals of 37 and 48 yards, while also handling kickoff duties.

RPI, which is coached by Ralph Isernia, made its fifth NCAA Tournament appearance - and first since 2007. The Engineers lost to nationally-ranked Wesley College, 45-27, on the road in the first round.
