Jaime Lord Named Captain of RPI Women's Cross Country

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Jaime Lord of Stony Point 10980 has been selected as a captain of the women's cross country team for the 2017 season.

Lord (North Rockland High School) is a two-time National All-America after finishes of 19th (2016) and 15th (2015) at the NCAA Championships. As a junior, she was also the Liberty League Runner of the Year and a First Team honoree as well as All-Region after five top 10 finishes in seven meets. She won the Saratoga Invitational with a season-best time of 17:30.7, was the conference runner-up and placed third in the Atlantic Regional in 20:46.4, her top 6K time. She was the Liberty League Performer of the Week four times and chosen to the Weekly Honor Roll twice. An aeronautical engineering major who has been a CoSIDA National Academic All-America Third Team each of the past two years, Lord has run in 22 career meets. She was second in the conference meet as a sophomore and fifth in the region that same season to earn All-Liberty League and All-Region. She was the Performer of the Week once in 2015 when she ran in a career-high eight meets.

The Engineers, who begin the season on Saturday at Plattsburgh State, received 183 points to earn the 12th spot in the national coaches' rankings. They are just two points behind 11th place Whitworth University and 16 from the top 10. In the Atlantic Region, RPI is third behind SUNY Geneseo(5th nationally) and Liberty League foe Ithaca College (7th).
