Jaime Lord Named Liberty League Performer of the Week

2016 Nov 15

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Jaime Lord of Stony Point 10980 has been recognized by the Liberty League, earning the conference's Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week, it has been announced.

A junior, Lord (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) captured this week's award after finishing third overall to lead the Engineers to a third place finish in the NCAA Atlantic Regional at Rowan University. She ran the 6K course at a 4:54 pace for a total time of 20:46.4, which was two seconds in front of the fourth place finisher. Lord earned All-Region for her effort against the field of 304 competitors from 50 schools.

Saturday's 20:46 finish was a personal best for Lord, who ran 21:37 to earn NCAA All-America at last season's national meet. She led the Engineers to a school record ninth place finish in 2015.

RPI had 121 points and just missed an automatic berth into the NCAA National Championship Meet. The Engineers, who are ranked ninth in the nation, later received an at-large bid - their second in as many years - and will once again compete for a national championship. Saturday race takes place in Louisville, Kentucky.

Founded in 1824, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is America's oldest technological research university.
