2016 Oct 18

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Jaime Lord of Stony Point 10980 has been recognized by the Liberty League, earning the conference's Performer of the Week in women's cross country, it has been announced.

Lord (North Rockland HS) was the top finisher for the Engineers on Saturday when she finished in eighth place at the highly-competitive Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan University. She ran the 6K course in a time of 21:06.4, a 5:40 pace, and was just one tenth of a second from seventh and only five seconds from fifth place. The Engineers, the 11th-ranked team in Division III, placed seventh of 45 schools in the meet, which featured 13 schools in the most recent National Coaches Poll.

In four meets to date, Lord has three top 10 finishes, including a win. She finished first in the Saratoga Invitational, hosted by RPI, with a 5K time of 17:30.7, while helping the team to victory over 14 other schools. It was for that effort she was previously recognized by the conference.

Lord started the season by finishing 17th of 197 competitors at Vassar College with a 5K time of 19:36.4. She then finished 10th of 248 at the 6K Williams College meet, finishing in a time of 22:33.3.

Rensselaer, which has three top 5 finishes as a team, returns to the course on October 29 when it travels to Geneva, N.Y., for the Liberty League Championship Meet.
