Jessica Kugelman Earns Liberty League Award

2017 Nov 14

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Jessica Kugelman of Tappan 10983 has been recognized by the Liberty League for her efforts on the Engineers' swimming & diving team.

Kugelman (Tappan Zee HS), a sophomore who was named Diver of the Week, won all four diving events in the two meets. She beat four others from 1-meter with a score of 261.80, which was more than 49 points in front of the runner-up (212.75), against Vassar and then posted a winning 3-meter score of 266.40. Against Hartwick, Kugelman won from 1-meters with 213.70 points to defeat three others, including the second place finisher who totaled 193.25 points. From 3-meters, she won with 226.60 points to beat two others, including the runner-up who had 186.95 points. This is the third Diver of the Week award for Kugelman, who competed at the NCAA Championship Meet a year ago. She was honored last week when she helped the Engineers to victories over WPI (204-96) and Simmons (225-75) by winning from both boards, including a second-cut qualifier for the NCAA Regional Meet. Her first honor came after she helped the Engineers defeat RIT, 203-97, in the season opener by winning off both diving boards.
