Jessica Kugelman Earns Liberty League Weekly Award

2016 Nov 7

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Jessica Kugelman of Tappan (10983) has been selected for a weekly award by the Liberty League for an outstanding effort in swimming & diving.

A freshman, Kugelman (Tappan Zee HS) was victorious off the 1-meter diving board, compiling 260.95 points, and she finished second off the 3-meter with 265.65 points against WPI. She won by nine points before falling just three points shy off the 3-meter board to earn Weekly Honor Roll recognition.

RPI, which is 3-0 on the men's side and 2-1 on the women's, has two dual meets this weekend, beginning at Vassar College on Saturday (1pm) and concluding at home against Hartwick College on Sunday (1pm). The Engineers have won 12 consecutive meets over the course of the past three years, while the women have won 14 of their last 15 dual meets.

Founded in 1824, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is America's oldest technological research university. For nearly two centuries, the Institute has been a driving force behind breakthroughs in engineering and science in virtually every arena-from transportation and infrastructure to business, medicine, outer space, and cyberspace.

As it approaches its bicentennial anniversary, the Institute continues to define The New Polytechnic, a new paradigm for teaching, learning, and research that uses advanced technologies to enable fresh collaborations across disciplines, sectors, and regions, in order to answer the global challenges of our day.
