Jessica Kugelman Honored by Liberty League Again

2017 Jan 24

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Jessica Kugelman of Tappan 10983 has been selected for a weekly award by the Liberty League, it has been announced. The freshman diver has been chosen as the Women's Rookie of the Week, marking the second straight week and fourth time this season she has been recognized.

In a 164-97 win over Skidmore College on Saturday, Kugelman (Tappan Zee HS) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. She collected 229.15 points, 80.55 points in front of the second place finisher, in 1-meter, and 245.45 points from three meters. She won the 3-meter competition by 52.60 points.

A civil engineering major, Kugelman was honored last week when she won twice and had a pair of third place finishes in two meets. She helped the Engineers win at Union College, 139-101, with victories from both boards. She had 239.25 points off the 1-meter board and 243.45 from 3-meters. The next day in the RPI Kumpf Invite, she registered 246.60 points in 1-meter, which had 14 divers, and 247.70 from 3-meters. There were 12 competitors in the 3-meter event. The Engineers finished second in the six-school event.

Kugelman also earned Rookie of the Week in late October and was the conference's Diver of the Week in mid-November.
