John Ramsdell Earns All-Liberty League in Football

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete John Ramsdell of Haverhill (01830) has been selected for a year-end award by the Liberty League for his outstanding effort throughout the football regular season season.

A slotback, Ramsdell was All-Liberty League Honorable Mention in the athlete category, has run the ball 32 times for 161 yards and three touchdowns and caught a team-high 16 passes for 152 yards and three scores. He has also returned four kickoffs for 73 yards.

Rensselaer, which is coached by Ralph Isernia, plays its final game on Sunday in the Scotty Whitelaw Bowl Championship, a post-season contest in which it will face SUNY Maritime. The game begins at 5pm and is part of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) 2016 Division III Football Bowl Championships at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. It is the first ever meeting between the two programs.

The Engineers concluded the regular season on Saturday with a 21-12 victory over Union College in the Dutchman Shoes Trophy Game, giving them a 5-5 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the Liberty League.
