Laurel Dean Named Captain of RPI Lacrosse

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Laurel Dean of Southington 06489 has been named a captain of the lacrosse team.

A defenseman, Dean started all 15 games last season, registering one assist for one point. Named All-Liberty League Honorable Mention, she scooped up 19 ground balls and was second on the team with 11 caused turnovers. Dean played played in nine games as a junior with four ground balls and one caused turnover. In 2015, the former Southington High School standout had a goal and an assist for two points, while nabbing 17 ground balls. She had four caused turnovers and five draw controls.

The Engineers went 6-9 last season, including a 4-5 mark in Liberty League play. They open 2018 on Thursday afternoon at Oneonta (4pm).
