Madeline Dery Earns Academic Cross Country Honor

2017 Feb 16

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Madeline Dery of Putnam Valley 10579 has earned All-Academic recognition by the The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Earning individual All-Academic recognition was Dery. To earn that distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and finish in the top 25 percent at their respective regional. The senior captain was 23rd in the Atlantic Regional in November, running the 6K course at Rowan University in 21:46.3. An All-Liberty League First Team and All-Region honoree, she went on to finish 151st at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships with a 22:18.0. Dery is a chemical engineering major.

Founded in 1824, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is America's oldest technological research university. For nearly two centuries, the Institute has been a driving force behind breakthroughs in engineering and science in virtually every arena-from transportation and infrastructure to business, medicine, outer space, and cyberspace.

As it approaches its bicentennial anniversary, the Institute continues to define The New Polytechnic, a new paradigm for teaching, learning, and research that uses advanced technologies to enable fresh collaborations across disciplines, sectors, and regions, in order to answer the global challenges of our day.
