Morgan Kollmeier Named Captain of RPI Softball

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Morgan Kollmeier of Kennett Square 19348 has been named a captain of the softball team.

A senior outfielder, Kollmeier was third on the team last season with a .348 batting average (47 for 135). She recorded seven doubles, three triples, a team-best 34 runs scored and 18 runs batted in. Compiling a .426 on-base percentage and a .444 slugging percentage, she had five stolen bases in six tries. Through three season at Rensselaer, Kollmeier has hit .313 (113 for 361) in 112 career games. The former Kennett High School standout has 23 doubles, three triples, a home run, 75 runs and 50 RBI. She carries a .392 on-base percentage and a .402 slugging percentage with 15 stolen bases.

The Engineers went 28-11 last year, including a 9-3 mark in the Liberty League. They open their 2017 season on Friday with games against Millikin University and Alfred University at 9am and 11:30am, respectively, in Leesburg, Fla.
